Tune the Main VFO to the frequency that the DX station is using

Touch the MHz display on the VFO. Touch F-INP. Touch a number representing the split that you want, for example <5> and then touch SPLIT. For a negative split when working LSB touch the decimal point and then the split <.> <5>.

You use the same techniques when using the low bands except the pileup will be spread on frequencies below the DX station and you will use LSB. For CW operation the technique is the same except the split will be 1-2 kHz rather than 5-10 kHz.
